from RPF BioScience Our companies lead the world in the field of Mycoscience – the natural exploitation and functional application of mushroom-based compounds. These companies have more than ten years’ experience of manufacturing products that have been used as immuno-modulators by many of the world’s most highly respected private clinics. Within the European Community our business is unique – in Japan our work would be recognised and respected by many. While most in this country will be familiar with Penicillin, few will understand the actions of Krestin or Lentinan. On occasion, our work has led us to research the nature of the human strain of TB (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) with relevance to certain mushrooms and compounds contained therein. In the course of this investigation we have found increasing reference to Bovine TB (bTB – Mycobacterium bovis), and an emerging cause-effect link. Our experience with “functional” foods and immunomodulators gave us the confidence to suggest that we could develop an animal feed supplement which could, possibly, be effective in preventing the spread of bTB. During the past twelve months, we have held detailed discussions with scientists at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA), relating to the hypothesis that we have developed to support the manufacture of this treatment. Further discussions have taken place with other UK Government agencies relating to the literal presentation of this product to markets, and discussions have taken place with European Community agencies relating to the ingredients and the levels at which they can be used safely in cattle. Our work is serious in its nature and our approach here is a genuine effort to help farmers overcome the threat of bTB. We have tackled the administrative obstructions surrounding matters relating to general animal health within the EC, and we have cleared marketing protocols and testing issues relating to the safety and assumed efficacy of the ingredients. To farmers we offer hope in the form of a product that they can feed to their own animals and to those who oppose the badger cull, we are offering an acceptable natural path of treatment, which prevents the needless expense, and perceived absurdity, of a badger cull. A product should be ready to market by January 2011. Regular updates will be made to this website.
